Reply 114 siebo666 on Mon, Jan 11, 2010 12:23:28 PM
Hello all - I've just booked the hall at Blackburn for two hours on Saturday. 1pm-3pm so should get a good game of 5-a-side if everyone turns up. They have changing rooms and showers so should be good.
Easy enough to find - just turn up between the Leys and the playpark and it's next on your left - pretty sure it's signposted.
Reply 113 Mikey on Mon, Jan 11, 2010 12:13:38 PM
We couls alway train at the academy if you like, I'm sure with the amount of gingers in the squad that orange balls wouldn't be a problem...
Reply 112 rosco on Mon, Jan 11, 2010 11:54:34 AM
yeah is that the gym place behind the bp garage? What about kemnay academy? Or even strikers but i doubt it would be worth the money for the hour we'd get.

Thanks to all the boys who said they wouldn't be there, the 9 of us that turned up, had a great game of world cuppie, and well done to Shuggie for winning the long jump challenge, I think it's 2 years on the trot he's won it, maybe football's not his sport! Then again, he did score a hattrick in the last world cup game, albeit with a dodgy deflection in the final. Training on Thursday, 6.30pm start . there are also benefits to warming down after some rigourous training with or without the ball....this would ensure people are not stiff / sore for Saturdays game.... you youngsters just can't handle the pace ! I agree with all of the comments mentioned...its all about proper preparation and that includes being sensible with the "swallae" on a friday night. I would also agree that Phil and Shuggie should take the training. Van Muirheedin.... wit aboot getting some linament for rubs before the match ?

Has Andy got a computer for his birthday or something? Oh and Dunc, Andy's user name is 10...!
Reply 20 rosco on Fri, Oct 17, 2008 21:20:44 PM
Yeah i think it wasbetter doing some ball work. Doing sprinting is fair enough but it is a hard surface and with training on thurs now its only a couple of days before a match day. I somtimes find my legs are still pretty tight on a sat.
Reply 19 siebo666 on Fri, Oct 17, 2008 19:05:34 PM
Yeah all good points Andy (you're name isn't showinfg up on the posts, maybe just my computer?) I'm happy to take training - I think there's more value to ball work and drills than sprinting. I think that was part of the reason for my groin injury. If Phil's happy to carry on then fair enough but I easily help out too
Reply 18 10 on Fri, Oct 17, 2008 18:24:23 PM
Also at games are warm up consists of 8-9 starting players running along the pitch whilst others do there own thing, the subs are blasting balls at the goal, shouldnt we warm up properly as a team. incase theres a injury in the first 20 mins then at least the subs have done a decent warm up and streched etc. Only need one person warming the keeper up properly. Ok its amatuer football but still at least have orgainisation and look like a team thats together and not just by wearing the same colours. Any one agree?
Reply 17 John_Muirhead on Fri, Oct 17, 2008 16:14:55 PM
Some good points Andy. The hour is basically down to the cost, last year it cost a shedload to train on there, this year it will probably be worse. We could meet at 7.30, and go for a run round the town, that would serve as our warm up. I did enjoy the drills, if anyone has any they would like to do, feel free to let us know. Thanks to Phil for organising last night, I prefer someone else to do it, as I need the training more than anyone (except Wayne!). When I'm taking it, I tend to stop when I'm knackered (not very long), and everyone stops then too, which is no good. It's much better with someone pushing me on. Perhaps Shuggie could take training for the next few weeks, due to his 'dodgy' groin, don't think he'll be doing too much.
Reply 16 10 on Fri, Oct 17, 2008 13:00:45 PM
Good training last night, enjoyed doing somthing that you had to think about apart from just playing a game and wanting to go on "solo's"! Just a couple things maybe to suggest, maybe doing more of the ball drills which was good last nite, if we are doing sprints it is solid ground we are running on and its ******* sore to be honest, can we do runnning on the grass next to us maybe? and also 20 players on a 7 a side pitch... surly we would off got more out it playing 2 small sided games, the goals are there to use. Also cant belive we only get an hours training session.

My understanding is that John isn't sure whether we will get on at 8pm or 8.30pm so we should be there at the earlier time

Please note, there will be NO training this week, we're all knackered and need a wee break. Well done on the first five games, to everyone.

I won't be at training tonight either and will be be out for the next two games at least. Went to the physio last night and I've stretched a tendon in my foot.
